Texas’ Driver’s manual says drivers exiting a private driveway must stop before crossing through oncoming traffic.
Failure to stop from a private driveway risks a dangerous collision. Recognizing this, Texas’ Driver’s Manual says all drivers must stop traffic before exiting a private driveway.

The danger in failing to stop before leaving a private driveway is obvious. Oncoming drivers are speeding toward the illegally entering vehicle.
Our case involved an 18-wheeler found guilty of the failure to stop from a private driveway. The length of the big rig increased the likelihood that a collision would occur. An 18-wheeler is about triple the size of a passenger car. So, it will take more time to clear the path of oncoming traffic. The collision played out as the rule expected.
The trucker’s failure to stop led to him being in our client’s pathway as she drove toward the driveway. So her car slid beneath it.
The reckless trucker suddenly and without notice crossed our client’s path. The trucker neglected to yield to our client’s oncoming vehicle. We earlier wrote about a different client who was t-boned by a big truck. In the forming the topic of this writing, our client’s car slid beneath the trailer.
Underscoring the trucker’s neglect were his multiple other regulatory deficits. For example, the trucker’s driver’s license was invalid when he caused the collision. The cab that he was driving was improperly registered. And he was not displaying a required cab card.
Serious injuries resulted.
